In our highly technical society, we see thriving careers and business celebrations for almost everything and anything. Opposing all the good in life is hostility, hatred, violence, licentiousness, and a host of other immoral behaviors. These things surround us and cause depression, discouragement, fear, worry, and doubt. They are destructive and unproductive traits developed in the minds of many of our loved ones, friends, and acquaintances.
What is the Gospel of Jesus Christ?
What is the Gospel of Jesus Christ? The ultimate demonstration of God’s unconditional love reaching out to humanity to bring redemption from sin. It is God’s personal invitation for humanity to be restored to His image and likeness. God pours out His grace and mercy in Jesus Christ who gave Himself as the only sacrifice for everyone to escape the binding curse of sin.
God’s Unconditional Love
The unshakeable, immovable, unconditional love of God is not contingent upon human actions or merits. It is freely given by grace through faith. God saved you when you believed. You cannot take credit it is God’s gift. Do not boast or think highly of yourself. Ephesians 2:8
God’s love is demonstrated in the life, suffering, sacrificial death, and resurrection of Jesus Christ. He reveals to us the transformative journey to receive God’s righteousness and holiness to build His Kingdom. The breadth, depth, and height of God’s love are declared in:
“For God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son, that whoever
believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life.” John 3:16
This verse holds the purpose of the Gospel of Jesus Christ: God’s sacrificial love is given to rescue you by grace through faith from sin’s curse and give you eternal life. Your name is included in “whoever.”
God’s love goes beyond human understanding. His love destroys the wall of hostility created by sin between God and humanity. The one who accepts Jesus Christ is restored to His image and likeness, reconciled in relationship with God the Father. God’s love relentlessly pursues mankind to rescue all who believe from the fallen state, gracefully offering forgiveness through faith and the path back to righteousness. Apostle Paul enlightens with these words:
But God showed His great love for us by sending Christ to die for us while
we were still sinners. Romans 5:8.
The Power of The Gospel of Jesus Christ: Return to God’s Image and Likeness
The gospel extends an invitation to return to the image and likeness of God, which was marred by sin. God created mankind in His image and likeness; male and female He created them” Genesis 1:26-27.
Sin stained the divine image and likeness, introducing corruption, sin and separation from God.
Separation from God is death. Jesus Christ came as the life giving word of God and sustain that new life with the Holy Spirit.
Through the gospel, Jesus offers restoration, reconciliation, and regeneration. This restoration is more than good morals. It is the transformation of every aspect of your being. Receiving the Gospel of Jesus Christ changes how you think and transforms your life. The believer becomes aligned with God the Father through Jesus Christ..
2 Corinthians 5:17 proclaims, whoever is in Christ is a new creature: The old person has passed away, all things have become new! The new creation is the new birth (born again) in Christ.
Christians grow to maturity in the Lord Jesus Christ and develop the traits of Christ until we identify with His virtues, values, and character. (Ephesians 4:12-13)
Deliverance from Sin’s Condemning Curse
The consequence of sin is separation from God, which is spiritual death and eternal condemnation. The Gospel of Jesus Christ gives salvation and deliverance from the curse of sin. Through Jesus’ atoning sacrifice on Cavalry, the penalty of sin is paid in full. Romans 8:1 assures us, “Therefore, there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus.”
Receiving Christ’s sacrifice satisfies the law by justification before God, declares the believer righteous based on Christ’s righteousness. The believer becomes God’s child and has an intimate relationship with the Father. This salvation is the power and completeness of deliverance by the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
A Global Invitation
The Gospel of Jesus Christ is an inclusive invitation extended to all humanity. It transcends cultural, racial, and socio-economic boundaries. The redeemed from every nation, tribe, people, and language will stand before the throne of God. Revelation 7:9 The call of the Gospel of Jesus Christ expresses God’s desire for all to receive His loving sacrifice to receive salvation, healing, and deliverance to escape the curse of sin.
Further, the global mandate of the Gospel of Jesus Christ is emphasized by Jesus Christ when He gave the Great Commission:
Therefore, go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit, and teach these new disciples to obey all the commands I have given you. Matthew 28:19-20a
The gospel’s message is one of hope, peace, and reconciliation and must be shared throughtout the world. We intentionally seek opportunities to share The Gospel of Jesus Christ with others.
